Bruce graduated from California State University with a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice Administration. He worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Alameda Co. in Oakland, CA 8 years. He received a disability retirement Apr 1986. He is currently a Special Claims Representative for Farmers Insurance Group in Pleasanton, CA.

Jackie works for Providian Bancrop in the Activation/ Response Department in Pleasanton.

Bruce and Jackie have 2 children:

Bruce is a member of the United Methodist Church, B.PO.E. (Elks), VFW, American Legion, Retired Peace Officers Assn, of CA, Retired Deputies Assn, of Alameda Co. and Alumni Assn, of CA State University (Hayward).

Brooks, David and Mary Ann (Jacobsen)

David Brooks was born  in Torrance, CA. He graduated from Long Beach Polytechnical Institute in 1970. David served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam conflict and was stationed in Viet Nam in 1971.

On 28 Apr 1984 David married Mary Ann Jacobsen in Reno, NV. Mary Ann was born  in Decorah. She is the daughter of Melvin and Eleanor (Wise) Jacobsen. Mary Ann graduated from Decorah Community High School in 1969 and then attended Iowa State University, Ames, IA. For a number of years she worked for a major insurance company in Des Moines, IA.

David and Mary Ann presently make their home in

Clive, IA (a suburb of Des Moines). David is a salesman for Moehl Mill Works.

Brooks, Delmar and Marcella (Thayer)

Delmar Arden Brooks was born 15 Dec 1920 in Winneshiek Co., IA, the son of William Herbert Brooks and Gladys Ruby Huffman. His father was born 28 Mar 1897 and his mother was born 25 Dec 1902, both in Allamakee Co. Delmar’s brother and sisters are Dorothy Hazel (Mrs. Ralph Nelson); Dolores Mae (Mrs. Arnold Rohm); William Herbert, Jr. (married to Dorothy Brown); and Joyce Lorene (Mrs. James Whalen) - died 27 Feb 1982.

Delmar graduated from Decorah High School in 1938. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 3 Jul 1942 until 10 Oct 1944. He married Marcella Elizabeth Thayer at Preston, MN in Jan 1945. Marcella was born in Decorah , the daughter of Elizabeth Sarah Stahl and Clarence Royal Thayer. Delmar and Marcella had 2 children: Susan Elizabeth, born  (Mrs. Gary Sharp); and Randy Eugene, (married Kristi Lea Bolson); both born in Decorah. Marcella died in an auto accident 23 Aug 1958. Delmar married his second wife, Sarah Susan Duff, in Decorah Nov 1963. Sarah had 6 children by a previous marriage: James Brown, Lyle Brown, Jr., Jerry Brown, Joyce Leutink, Sharon Watson and Judy Smith. Sarah died 28 Jul 1990 and is buried at Phelps Cemetery.

Delmar worked as a mail carrier and as superintendent of mails at the Decorah Post Office for 30 years. After retirement he worked as bookkeeper for Construction Lumber Co. for 10 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the I.O.O.F. (Odd Fellows) and the V.F.W.

Delmar died 28 Dec 1994 at Decorah. In addition to his 2 children and 6 step-children, he was survived by 6 grandchildren: Tracy Elizabeth Larson, Trent Anthony Larson, Cory Lee Larson, Erica Sue Larson, Melissa Elizabeth Brooks (Mrs. Pauly Nielsen) and Nathan Blake Brooks and by 2 great grandchildren: Brandon Blake
